Alisa joined Takoma Wellness Center as the General Manager in July 2017 after a 20-year career in the Department of Defense, including two years in Afghanistan. After seeing a medical marijuana shop in her native Washington State, Alisa became interested in the industry and committed to becoming part of a place that would provide a clean, reliable, safe environment for medical marijuana patients. Her search brought her to Takoma Wellness Center. Alisa specializes in business operations and is passionate about creating a positive customer experience. Alisa holds a Bachelor degree in International Studies, a Master of International Affairs, and a Master of Strategy. She completed the Patient-Focused Certification from Americans for Safe Access in 2017. English is her primary language, but Alisa can get by in Russian and successfully order full meals in Farsi/Dari.
Cristina has been a Patient Consultant at Takoma Wellness Center since September 2017. Cristina holds several degrees including a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts with a Minor Concentration in General Sociology, a Master in Museum Education, Child Development Associate Credentials, and HempStaff Dispensary Certification. Cristina’s background includes event planning, social media, arts education, and community outreach. Over the past 5 years, she worked as an educator within the nonprofit sector, specifically running programs for a diverse audience. She continues to work as a teaching artist. A native of Puerto Rico, Cristina was surrounded by an environment that supported the use home remedies with plants being a big part of my life. She advocates for natural healing practices such as medical cannabis, due to her concerns with the long-term effects pharmaceuticals have in our bodies and is a specialist in cooking with cannabis. Cristina is a native Spanish speaker and at the Intermediate Level of American Sign Language. Despite all these accomplishments, Cristina wishes she was a stand-up comedian.
DG was born and raised in Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. He has been married for twenty-eight years and has one daughter. He spent almost two decades in public service in Washington, D.C. Government receiving numerous awards for his outstanding service to the citizens of the District of Columbia. He pursued other ambitions, later in life becoming a successful entrepreneur owning and operating his own business in the District of Columbia for about thirteen years. He now enjoys working for the Takoma Wellness Center as head of security and a patient consultant.
Dominique started as a Customer Service representative at Takoma Wellness Center in November 2015. She’s a DC-native and graduated from Frederick Douglass High in addition to courses on the FEMA online school. Dominique brings six years of customer service experience from the Grand Hyatt Hotel and three years of experience as an armed security guard at Takoma Wellness Center. She joined Takoma Wellness Center thanks to its reputation as DC’s best dispensary, welcoming environment, and for the opportunity to work with the Kahn family. With the wide variety of strains and medicines Takoma Wellness Center provides, Dominique is committed to ensuring every patient obtains the medicine they need to help with their condition. She loves greeting patients and being able to help them navigate through DC’s process to join the medical marijuana program, so they can purchase safe quality medicines. In fact, Dominique is Takoma Wellness Center’s expert on the application process. When Dominique isn’t at work, she enjoys riding her motorcycle and learning to play bass guitar.
Max joined Takoma Wellness Center as a Patient Consultant in September 2016. He holds an MBA from the University of Maryland University College and a Bachelor degree in Urban Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University. He also studied at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to joining Takoma Wellness Center, Max was the Executive Assistant to Vice President of a life insurance company affiliated with organized labor. As a long time cannabis user, Max has always believed in the mental and physical healing powers of the plant. He finds Takoma Wellness Center a blessing in that it provides a place where people can obtain their once "taboo" medicine in a safe, professional and regulated environment. Max specializes in different strains and their effects, vaporizers and other products, terpenes, and edibles made with the magic butter machine. Max is addicted to seafood. All kinds. Every kind.
Paula is the Director of Community Engagement at Takoma Wellness Center. She is a founding member of Takoma Wellness Center, beginning in January 2014. She is a licensed Occupational Therapist and a founding member of Takoma Wellness Center. Paula’s early professional background is in the study and practice of recreational therapy and gerontology. Following work experiences in subacute rehabilitation, adult day health, and inpatient psychiatric care, Paula then pursued a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy at Tufts University. As an occupational therapist, Paula served older adults in rehabilitation/long-term care.
Paula’s cannabis knowledge come from varied sources, including research-based conferences, scholarly articles, and insight from working with patients and families particularly from parents treating minors with cannabis. Paula’s specialized knowledge relates to communicating effectively with patients of all ages and their families, ongoing and growing knowledge of the human endocannabinoid system, focus on the concept of low and slow dosing, treatment of seniors with use of cannabis, treatment of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation, treatment of chronic pain using a wide range of cannabis and cannabis-infused products.
Paula is married to Rabbi James Kahn (relationship began in 2000), has two healthy growing children, and an Israeli rescue dog named Noa. She can also play three songs on the guitar.
Ramses joined Takoma Wellness Center as a Patient Consultant in October 2017 and completed his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland soon after. Before joining Takoma Wellness Center Ramses worked in small and large businesses, as well as secondary and higher education institutions, in fields such as alternative medicine, supply chain and logistics management, collegiate recreation and fitness, special needs education, and retail. Ramses is particularly knowledgeable about cooking with cannabis and vaporizers.
Tazz joined Takoma Wellness Center in 2015. The Kahns’ love and appreciation for their business, patients, and purpose inspired him to make the career change to become a Patient Consultant and Social Media Specialist at Takoma Wellness Center. His educational background includes Hampton University and The Art Institute, and he works in Government Contracting Procurement at Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Energy before becoming a Patient Consultant. Tazz specializes in strain Information and understanding the effects of different stains. He’s also an advanced joint roller. Additionally, Tazz has played Saxophone since 4th grade. He is often responsible for the musical selections playing at Takoma Wellness Center.
Andrew joined Takoma Wellness as an employee in April 2018. He also works at Liberty, Takoma Wellness Center’s sister dispensary in Rockville, Maryland. Born and raised in Wheaton, Maryland, Andrew attended Albert Einstein High School. He worked in food service and retail until 2012, when he decided to pursue a barbering career. He attended American Beauty Academy while working at Friendly Faces Barber Shop. Diagnosed with epilepsy in 2009, Andrew tried various combinations of pharmaceuticals before learning about CBD. He moved to DC to gain legal access to medical marijuana to help treat his epilepsy. Andrew has been a patient at Takoma since 2014 and has been benefiting from Jackson’s Courage (CBD oil). Combined with prescription medications, Jackson’s Courage changed his life. Andrew’s seizure rate has reduced to almost none and he has been able to cut his pharmaceutical dosage in half. Andrew is a proud father of two and enjoys cooking and nature. He is also known as “Space Barber,” the barber whose cuts are out of this world.
Charles joined Takoma Wellness Center in May 2018. Learning about and benefiting from cannabis’ healing properties has been a passion of his for over 10 years. With this passion at heart and having seen the damage inflicted by the opioid epidemic in the United States, Charles founded a cannabis education non-profit to further the medical marijuana mission. His commitment to cannabis as medicine brought him to Takoma Wellness Center after working at Sprint and DC Brau Brewing Company. Charles studied communications at the University of Maryland - Eastern Shore, and Morgan State University. Charles is a specialist in cannabis infusion. When dining with him, always ask if the food is medicated.
Cristina joined Takoma Wellness Center as an employee in May 2018. She brings a wealth of customer service experience, including with Herman Miller and as an owner of Peek Brooklyn, hosiery and lingerie boutique. Cristina has been a medical marijuana patient for several years. She suffers with chronic pain and anxiety and found herself being over-medicated on pharmaceuticals. Cannabis has helped relieve her symptoms while allowing her to be present and a better mom. Cristina has a terrific eye for design that extends to how she medicates. She mixes her own blends to achieve relief and create new euphoric experiences. Cristina is a proponent and beneficiary of vocational training programs beginning with her high school education and culminating in the Walt Disney College Program. A proud mom of two sons, Cristina teaches yoga and finds joy and in selecting her highly fashionable wardrobe each day.
A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gabriel joined Takoma Wellness Center in June 2018. He has a Bachelor degree in Business Management and International Business from Loyola University, New Orleans. A long-time cannabis user, in his second year at Loyola, Gabriel starting studying marijuana more seriously and decided he wanted a career working with cannabis. When he told his parents about his career aspiration, their greatest concern was the stigma associated with marijuana and how he would be judged for choosing this career path. Gabriel worked for a fire extinguisher company, in insurance, and as a bartender before coming to Takoma Wellness Center. Over time, he demonstrated to his family the medical benefits of marijuana. Now, he and his family are proud of his work at Takoma Wellness Center. Gabriel has some expertise in rolling, vaporizers, and water pipes. He speaks English, French, and Spanish - to people and cannabis itself.
